Install MSI Afterburner if you havent already and open the application. Scroll down some more and under "GPU WORKLOAD" switch it from Graphics to Compute and restart the application. Head to the "Graphics" tab and scroll down until you see the "Advanced" section. You can do this by clicking the gear in the top right. Open up your AMD radeon software application and switch your GPU mode to compute. If it says "Already Patched" simply restart your computer one more time. If you restart your computer and the driver is acting funny, open the pixel patcher application again and if it still has found variables, patch and restart again.
Once that is complete, restart your computer. If there are "Found" variables, click yes to patch. Once your programing is complete, run the AMD Pixel Clock Patch found HERE. Click on "Load Image" this time and select the modded bios file you just created, then click on "Program". Once that is saved, open up ATI FLASH again as administrator. Once it updates the bios, click on "Save As" and create a save file so you know that this will be the modded bios. There is now a fancy function called "One Click Timing Patch" which will automatically determine the strap values for your gpu. In the top left, click on "Open Bios" and load the previously saved. Once you have your stock bios saved, open up the Polaris Bios Editor application, which can be found HERE. I use the current vbios name as the filename. Create a filename that will let you determine which card's bios you are saving (If you are setting up multiple gpus) although I recommend doing this with one card in your system at a time.
In the program select your gpu and then click on "Save". Open the program but right clicking and running "as administrator". You'll need to download ATI FLASH in order to do this. The next step is to create a backup of the GPU bios. It should appear on the front page the first time you open the application. Once your new driver is installed go into the Radeon software and disable updates. Radeon will want to automatically update to the latest drivers but sometimes there are bugs with new software so I personally use driver version 20.11.2 because it has been very stable. The first step is to install your RX480 drivers. Radeon Drivers 20.11.2 (I found this most stable for now).Do your research on each coin you wish to mine.
